Well, I made it back around 3:00 am this morning and am glad to be home.
RWA wasn’t quite what I had hoped to be but there were some definite great moments.
The Passionate Ink chapter luncheon at the Georgia Aquarium was wonderful. Dining with the beautiful Beluga Whales was fabulous. There were great speakers who spoke frankly regarding erotic romance and where it is headed. You should have seen the poor bartender falling apart as we discussed different kinds of sex, i.e. menage, man on man, and so much more.
Seeing my friends from RT was a definite highlight. Wish we’d had more time to chat.
RWA is a whirlwind of activity and it never seems to slow down. As a newbie writer it was overwhelming and I am not sure I want to go back until I have finished a book or two. It is all about networking and if I am not ready for networking or at least know more people, it turns into a very expensive way too sit around a hotel doing not much. I ordered the CD’s and think that I will get much more by listening to them in the comfort of my own home when I am not exhausted but fresh and ready to learn.
I met Nora Roberts as well as many other great authors! It was really nice to see how many remembered meeting me at RT two months ago. (Kathy Love is a real sweetheart!)
The publisher signings were off the hook! I brought home 166 exciting books. Don’t know how I will have time to read them all! LOL
The speech given at a Luncheon by Christina Dodd was very inspiring and I just want to sit and write. That is the plan. I have set myself a deadline of a completed first draft by November (or sooner) and I plan to get it done.
Overall it was an important exercise in lessons learned. Some good…Some bad, but all important.
