Back from RWA

Well, I made it back around 3:00 am this morning and am glad to be home.

RWA wasn’t quite what I had hoped to be but there were some definite great moments.

The Passionate Ink chapter luncheon at the Georgia Aquarium was wonderful. Dining with the beautiful Beluga Whales was fabulous. There were great speakers who spoke frankly regarding erotic romance and where it is headed. You should have seen the poor bartender falling apart as we discussed different kinds of sex, i.e. menage, man on man, and so much more.

Seeing my friends from RT was a definite highlight. Wish we’d had more time to chat.

RWA is a whirlwind of activity and it never seems to slow down. As a newbie writer it was overwhelming and I am not sure I want to go back until I have finished a book or two. It is all about networking and if I am not ready for networking or at least know more people, it turns into a very expensive way too sit around a hotel doing not much. I ordered the CD’s and think that I will get much more by listening to them in the comfort of my own home when I am not exhausted but fresh and ready to learn.

I met Nora Roberts as well as many other great authors! It was really nice to see how many remembered meeting me at RT two months ago. (Kathy Love is a real sweetheart!)

The publisher signings were off the hook! I brought home 166 exciting books. Don’t know how I will have time to read them all! LOL

The speech given at a Luncheon by Christina Dodd was very inspiring and I just want to sit and write. That is the plan. I have set myself a deadline of a completed first draft by November (or sooner) and I plan to get it done.

Overall it was an important exercise in lessons learned. Some good…Some bad, but all important.

Getting ready for RWA

OK, so I haven’t posted in forever, but since I don’t think anyone is reading anyway, what diff does it make.

I am leaving for RWA on Tuesday morning and I am finally starting to make preparations. Yeah right! I am the classic last minute girl and probably won’t start getting ready until 11:00 pm Monday night! LOL

I have actually been spending my time trying to get parts of my book ready to be submitted to a contest. Am I crazy you ask? Yeah, probably. But hey, I want validation for my work just like everyone else.

Been writing my very first synopsis and it has not been easy. Makes me think I don’t know what the hell I am doing. Thanks to one of my critique partners, I am almost done with it and then I will submit it for comment to the rest of the group. Will they find my story lacking? Will they tell me the truth? God I hope so.

So, what else is new you want to know? I just found this new aspect of blogging called Audio blogging and plan to put it to the test later this morning.

I am gonna use this method to blog from RWA. So for those of you who can’t make it to Hot Lanta for the conference, I will try to bring a little bit of live action to you. Let’s just hope that Lia and I don’t get too drunk and post something we shouldn’t. HeHe.

Let me know what you think.
